Katelynn Killian The LAB Dance Studio Artistic Director is a Salt Lake City born and based Dance Artist. A graduate of Westminster College with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance awarded Outstanding Graduating Senior. In her time with the dance program she has had the privilege to perform renowned José Limón and Doug Varone repertoire. Along with original works by dance department faculty Bethany Hansen, Natalie Desch, Michelle Armstrong, Allison Shir, Sara Pickett, Nathan Dryden and multiple collaborative student-generated dance works. Killian has performed in the plays Love and Information by Carol Churchill and Big Day for the Byrons by Max Huftalin. She also has had the pleasure to design the lighting of evening length shows in Westminster’s dance department: The Right Kind of Ugly, Kaleidoscope, Surrendered Contact. Killian was awarded scholarship to Ririe Woodbury Dance Company’s 2018 summer Move-It intensive. Katelynn currently enjoys teaching and performing as a freelance movement artist within and beyond the Salt Lake and Davis County areas.
Rene' DeCaria, The LAB Dance Studio Assistant Director bringing years of dance and competition experience. Dance has been part of Rene’s life for the past 29 years with 17 of those years as a dance instructor. She has performed at NFL and NBA games, pro bowl in Hawaii and on cruise ships around the world. Throughout her dancing career she is exceptionally experienced in the competition industry and is know through the state for her choreography and talented solo routines for many competitive dancers.
She danced through high school, attended dance conventions, and decided to take it one step further. Ultimately, leading to years as a successful instructor to hundreds of dancers. Rene' is talented, and has a special ability to connect with her dancers. She works hard to bring the best out in them, even when they do not see it in themselves. She prides herself in creating a fun environment while developing dance skills and building confidence through hard work, patience, and dedication. Her proudest moments have resulted in many of her solos awarded
OVER-ALL High Point, and top placements in their divisions. Rene' has spent countless private hours making dancers goals become reality under her instruction, making Drill Teams, Cheer Teams, and odt thriller productions all over the State and we are lucky to call her our own!Hannah Kawa was born and raised in Davis County, Utah.
Hannah has been dancing for 14 years and doing competition choreography for 6 years. Hannah's extensive training in jazz technique, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, and hip hop. Hannah has appeared in Imagine Ballet Theatre's Nutcracker Production. Hannah was a junior high cheerleader, helping lead her team to a State Championship. She has also been a 3-year member of the Layton High Lancelles Drill Team. Hannah has attended and earned scholarships at many dance National Dance Touring Conventions over the last decade; most notably for Jazz and Hip Hop, but more importantly learning techniques from top choreographers from around the country. Hannah enjoys choreography and teaching fundamentals of dance technique to young dancers. She believes in exploring musicality with dancers from a young age to not only create technically sound dancers, but dancers capable of expressive movement and storytelling.
Kennadie is a 21 year old dance artist, she is currently residing in Farmington, Utah. As a dancer, performer, choreographer, and educator, her career has spanned throughout Northern Utah.
She is currently earning her Bachelors Degree in Dance Education at Weber State University. She will graduate in 2023.
She received her dance training from Dance Impressions (2003-2011) and Lightbox (2011-2017). She has learned from noted dance artists such as Matthew Peacock, Alan Salazar, Liz Martineau, and Kylie Bronk.
Her choreographic works have been presented at many high schools and dance studios in Northern Utah, including Farmington High School, Clearfield High School, etc.
Kennadie has a love for the art of teaching. She has taught for 6 years and plans on teaching dance for the rest of her life.
